Condom use (when used properly) prevents against:

  • STI’s
  • Pregnancy

How do Condoms protect against STI’s?

Condoms are used to create a barrier (latex) that covers the penis and collects the semen inside of the tip of the condom. When used properly this can prevent against STI’s by vastly decreasing the chance of the fluids to enter the vagina or anus.

Abstaining from sex is the primary way to prevent  HIV/AIDS from being transmitted through semen and vaginal fluids and blood. Using a condom properly can help to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS (however it is not always 100% reliable). It will decrease the risk of getting or transmitting STI’s.
